MCD MakeArt Kit: Silk Dyeing & Sun Printing
Inspired by MCD’s past exhibition Linda Gass: And Then This Happened…
Use Jacquard Dy-Na-Flow paint and Dye Resist to transform a silk canvas into a colorful artwork! MCD exhibiting artist, Linda Gass, uses these same materials to create detailed silk maps that document rising sea levels and changing shorelines.
Included are instructions for two different ways to dye your silk! In option 1, draw a design onto the surface with the included Dye Resist, then fill in the empty spaces with the included Dy-Na-Flow paint. In option 2, use a wet dye process, 3D objects, and the sun to create inspired impressions on the surface of the silk.
Inside the kit you’ll find:
Two 100% Silk hoops
Brush
Three Dy-Na-Flow paint colors
Dye Resist
Silk salt
Laser cut wood pieces
MCD pencil
Water cup & paint mixing dishes
